WHAT IS IT?
The intrauterine device (IUD) is an effective and reversible contraceptive method available in hormonal (Mirena, Kyleena) or copper (Mona Lisa) versions. The insertion and removal are done directly at the clinic. Important: For the insertion, you must have a valid prescription and bring your IUD to the appointment. A contraceptive consultation can be scheduled with us in advance to obtain your prescription.

This service is for you if you wish to have an IUD installed as a contraceptive method, have an expired IUD replaced, or have an IUD removed (with or without replacement).

The placement is quick. Cramps or slight discomfort may occur during and after the procedure — taking a painkiller before the appointment can help. A follow-up may be recommended to check the positioning. Removal is usually simple, but can sometimes be more complex (e.g., non-visible threads). If the initial removal is unsuccessful, a consultation with our IPSPL may be suggested for complex removal; otherwise, an ultrasound and referral to gynecology may also be necessary — variable delays in the public network.
