WHAT IS IT?
The ABPM (Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring) is a portable device that automatically measures your blood pressure at regular intervals over a 24-hour period during your normal activities and while you sleep. This test provides a much more accurate picture of your blood pressure than single measurements taken in a clinic, and allows for the detection of masked hypertension or white coat syndrome.
FOR WHO?
This service is for you if your doctor has prescribed 24-hour blood pressure monitoring, if your clinic blood pressure readings are high but normal at home, if you are taking medication for blood pressure and your doctor wants to evaluate their effectiveness, or if masked hypertension is suspected.
HOW'S IT GOING?
Appointment booking online or by phone
Installation of the MAPA device at the clinic
You wear the device for 24 hours during your normal activities
Return to the clinic to remove the device, and the results are sent to your doctor
The device automatically takes measurements every 30 minutes during the day and every 60 minutes at night. It is important to keep your arm relaxed and still during each measurement. The cuff may be slightly uncomfortable at night, but most patients quickly get used to it. The device should not get wet.
