Warts are skin growths caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They can appear mainly on the hands (common warts) or the feet (plantar warts). Although they are benign, they can be uncomfortable, unsightly, and contagious. At the NIOS Clinic, our team treats warts using professional methods such as cryotherapy or the application of cantharidin, depending on the type and location of the lesion, to ensure safe and appropriate treatment.

The treatment of warts often requires several sessions spaced 10 to 14 days apart to completely eliminate the lesion. The treatment may cause a temporary burning sensation and a slight blister may form in the following days. Avoid scratching or cutting the wart yourself, as this can spread the virus.

Is the treatment painful?
Cryotherapy may cause a burning or tingling sensation for a few seconds. The discomfort is temporary. Cantharidin is not painful upon application, but may cause discomfort afterwards.
